Journey Back to Myself

April 17, 2015 By Marilyn A. Johnson

SoulStirr delivers on the inherent promise of its name. While just miles from a major interstate, the SoulStirr retreat feels like it is worlds away from life’s daily grind.  I left for SoulStirr, bound to begin my journey back to self.  And the retreat did indeed offer me the opportunity to awaken pieces of myself  and my life that had fallen into slumber. The three-day retreat invited me away from my over-scheduled life to a peaceful space that was ripe for the first steps in a journey toward myself that I needed to revive.

From the beautiful rooms, remote grounds and amazing meals that were prepared just for us, to the supportive circle of women, the SoulStirring exercises, discussions and the time we were given, the retreat was just what I needed to loosen the knots I had become stuck on.  At SoulStirr, I was able to write, to sleep, to walk, and be still enough to hear my own voice.  I was able to stir my soul.  While there, I committed to accept the woman in my mirror, to forgive the woman in my mirror and be better to the woman in my mirror.  I have continued the work begun there.  I would love to plug in again and recharge at SoulStirr. Thank you Marilyn, Betsy, Paulette and Gail.  You are the architects of a wonderful place for women to safely be strong and vulnerable in the same breath. ~D. James
